Centeral Informatics Organisation press conference in the occasion of “Time reference night” for the census Alamer : census is compatible with the requirements of the United Nations and the initial results on coming June.

Central Informatics Organisation held a press conference on Tuesday evening Coinciding with the start of the general census of population and housing, buildings, installations and Agriculture 2010 or so-called "time reference day " in CIO building in Isa town.

That conference comes For the preparation of a census, that reference was attended by Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Alamer, President of CIO and Shaikh Salman Al Khalifa Director of IT Directorate, Najma Mohammed Janahi General Director of Population Registry and ID card Directorate, Dr. Nabeel Shams Director of Statistics Directorate, and representatives from kingdom ministries “Electricity and water authority, Ministry of education, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Social Insurance Authority, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Municipalities affairs and Agriculture”.

Tuesday 27th April 2010, midnight its “reference day” a copy will be taken of all information in the administration records of kingdom organizations which required for census, that copy will be a database of the collected and constructed the statistical variables which will get it from other database and from the survey sample, that to show the cooperation between governmental organizations and CIO in this national project. Alamer ensure through a speech in the conference that the ninth census is compatible with the united nations standards particularly with the accurately calculate the number of people presents in within the kingdom and provide the characteristics of the population and data on all elements of society in all regions and used in the formulation of strategic development and economic and social development. Alamer cleared that kingdom census comes with obligation of the decision of the GCC Council in the twenty-second session in Muscat in 2001, coinciding with the start of the GCC population census for each countries where the resolution provides for the Standardization of the time periods for general censuses in these countries.

وCIO president added that the census will include aspects of population, housing, facilities, agriculture, pointing out in this aspect that the current population added by agriculture, which was not included in the previous seven censuses. Alamer stressed that the efforts made by CIO over past years helps a lot to Provide a national database is huge and accurate reference and build on them, In any process of development shown on the precise data that specifies the state to their policies, plans and according to available information, pointing out that this phase is no doubt that it is calculated to Bahrain being the first Arab country after Egypt to adopt policies according to the census results. Alamer said that kingdom of Bahrain will be the first Arabic country that depends on population and administration records for other governmental organizations in the implementation of general census that what European countries doing, however, these records do not contain all the changing information, which requires a survey to monitor these variables.

About the census results, Alamer select that next June will be the date for the publication of preliminary findings and initial, while December of this year is the date for publication of the final results of the census and demographic data, social and economic issues related to all individuals within the state and in hard copy and electronic format.  

        On the other hand the general director of Information Technology, Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed AL Khalifa said that the electronic networking project for the kingdom organizations is the cornerstone of census because of its importance and because of its substantial positive results. Stressing that this project comes within the CIO projects aimed to provide more diverse information services and facilitation of services that provided to governmental organizations consistent with the achievement of national strategic and economic vision of the kingdom 2030. Shaikh Salman said that the electronic link provides important information and exchange between governmental organizations. Which enable the rapid development of services and provide the best for the citizens and residents, with this governmental network link that with uniform standards and policies was agreed on before.. .
