Part of the Kingdom celebration of World Statistics Day 20 of October, the CIO Celebrated the occasion this morning in Movenpick Hotel, In the presence of a number of officials and Undersecretaries of the Ministries and representatives of government agencies and private concerned and United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bahrain and a number of invitees.
The CIO President , Dr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Amer was speaking: " I would like to congratulate you and all those working in the statistics and information field in your international statistics day for your efforts and your perseverance and your technical and methodology achievements in the areas of statistics, the vast economic, social, cultural and environmental ". He added : "The use of statistical data and information the optimal and right use to rationalize policies and plans, often linked to the progress of modern societies and returns the benefit, For this, today, we are not celebrate the Statistics successes only , but we also celebrate their importance in contributing to development at all levels and areas. "
Al Amer explained : "the Central Informatics Organization is committed to providing assistance to all ministries, agencies and community organizations in building the infrastructure, stressing the CIO approach, in citizen interest , which is the first beneficiary of the statistical work, and constant communication with decision makers, and understand the needs of users of all classes, in compliance with the orders of His Majesty the King, and the implementation of the directives of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince may God protect them, noting the leadership support, which had a significant role in the progress of Bahrain in this area". He added: "Today we congratulate you also your success in the implementation of the first comprehensive census of population and housing, buildings, establishment and agriculture relies on administrative records and databases, which was in agreement with our brothers in other statistical agencies in the GCC countries in the twenty-seventh of April 2010". He pointed out that the Organization won the lead in being the first Arab country to adopt this methodology in their censuses. When developed countries like the Scandinavian countries and some East Asian countries work to adopt such a methodology developed in the conduct of censuses, not so long ago.He concluded: "We aspire to promote statistical awareness and dissemination of statistical culture in the community, and the provision of information to be available to users. And provide data’s in the best quality and the lowest possible cost, and we aspire to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the producers of official statistics, and communicate with them to unify the concepts and terms and conditions for the production of high-quality statistics. "
He extended his thanks and appreciation to all who celebrated their day. And thanked them for their invitation to participate in this international event. After that, the United Nations Coordinator in Bahrain, Sayed Agha, delivered a speech in which he congratulated the audience on this occasion, and he said that the Statistical Commission of the United Nations decided to be 20 in October the International Day of Statistics from this year, 2010, in recognition of the importance of statistics in shaping our societies and because of their major role in serving and developing societies. Sayed Agha praised the efforts of a lot of statistical experts in their field which will have a major impact in supporting the development process, especially since the development processes need to be based on statistics planning and correct figures, which contribute to achieving the desired objectives. He also praised the role of the CIO in providing the information, stressing the transparency and fair of information, citing the review of the Millennium Development Goals report prepared by the CIO in cooperation with some state institutions, which was submitted at the meeting of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, which included a lot of those indicators and statistics. He stressed that the CIO is committed to international standards in the conduct of population census, noting that Bahrain is able to provide all the information required in all transparency, also praised the significant role played by the CIO in the provision of information about the reality of population in Bahrain. Then offered many speeches, inception the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for the resources and services Sheikh Hisham bin Abdul Aziz Al Khalifa, where he praised the responsibility undertaken by the CIO to provide the data requirements needed by the development plans in all sectors of the Kingdom, including the education sector, which plays a basic role in the development process, making education statistics within the main political components of the national statistics. He noted that the statistics on of the science that will help them to improve education and improve outcomes, and also stated that the implementation of the Ministry of the program to improve school performance in the initiatives of the national project to develop education and training, there is a need for accurate statistics help us to shape future plans, and modifying paths and audit in the light of the variables and objectives. Baheeja Al Dailami the General Assistant Secretary-of the Supreme Council for Women Confirmed, the importance of statistics by the Kingdom in the promotion of women's issues, leading to the empowerment of women politically, socially and economically. In the same context, Dr. Adel Al Zayani the General Director of the Public Authority for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife confirmed that the role of statistics is essential for sustainable development because such development need accurate information. And then a set of worksheets were presented , the Director of Technical Resources Department of CIO Elham Saleh presented worksheet , titled "Using the administrative records in the General Census of the Kingdom of Bahrain", As the Director of Policy Development in the Labour Market Regulatory Authority Nedhal Al Banna presented a worksheet, titled "labor market information in the Kingdom of Bahrain", In conclusion, the worksheet of the Statistics graduates "The fact of Bahrain Statistics" presented by the statistical Eman Ashkanani. For his part, Chief Operating Officer of Jaffari Consultants, Dr. Akbar Jaffari, said that the statistical system in Bahrain advanced remarkably, and only as a result of the accumulation of experiences of 70 years, pointing out that Bahrain is a pioneer in the statistics field .Noting that his company used the information in the decision-making and models. At the end of the ceremony, the CIO honored state institutions and agencies that have contributed and participated in success of the census of population and housing, establishment, buildings and agriculture, 2010, done by the kingdom in 27 of April 2010 based on administrative records and databases. |
